Zomato‘s parent company has taken on a new identity, rebranding as Eternal. The announcement was made by founder Deepinder Goyal via a letter on the company’s newly acquired website, Eternal.com.
Domain name investor Elliot Silver reported on X (formerly Twitter) that Anything.com sold Eternal.com. Details regarding the sale price are not yet available. Anything.com’s portfolio also includes several other premium domains currently up for grabs, such as Borrow.com, Joint.com, Kitchen.com, Songs.com, Squad.com, and Women.com.
In the letter to shareholders, Zomato founder announced a significant shift for the company, revealing that its parent entity will now be known as Eternal Ltd. This rebranding comes as Zomato celebrates its recent inclusion in the BSE Sensex, a milestone that coincides with the 17th anniversary of the company’s inception.
Goyal reflected on Zomato’s journey from a simple online menu collection to a major player in the Indian market, emphasizing the company’s commitment to service, job creation, and building an enduring institution.
Goyal explained that the name “Eternal” was chosen to represent the company’s long-term vision and its dedication to continuous improvement. He acknowledged the weight of the name, stating that it “scares me to my core,” recognizing that true permanence comes not from claiming invincibility, but from constantly striving to be better.
This rebranding, he emphasized, is more than just a name change; it’s a mission statement, a reminder that the company’s future is earned through constant effort and a willingness to acknowledge limitations.
The transition to Eternal reflects the company’s growth beyond its core food delivery platform. Goyal noted that the internal use of “Eternal” began after the Blinkit acquisition to differentiate between the company and the Zomato brand/app.
Now, with Blinkit becoming a significant driver of the company’s future, the time is right for the official name change.
Eternal Ltd. will encompass four key businesses: Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.
The rebranding requires shareholder approval, and if granted, the corporate website will transition to eternal.com, and the stock ticker will change from ZOMATO to ETERNAL.
Goyal expressed his hope that this rebranding marks another significant founding moment in the company’s ongoing journey.
Zomato is the parent company of Zomatoverse, a diverse group of businesses encompassing online food ordering (Zomato), grocery delivery (Blinkit), event ticketing (District), charitable food initiatives (Feeding India), restaurant supply (Hyperpure), live entertainment (Zomato Live), food and entertainment carnivals (Zomaland), and crowd-supported weather infrastructure (Weather Union).
