Taiwan Just Crowdfunded NT$62 Million for Rokid Glasses: Is This The Future, Or Just Hype?

Taipei, Taiwan, December 13, 2025 – In a testament to the surging interest in augmented reality, Rokid, a global pioneer in human-computer interaction, has achieved a monumental milestone on Taiwan’s creative-oriented crowdfunding platform, zeczec.

The Rokid Glasses campaign didn’t just meet its goals; it utterly surpassed them, raking in over NT$62 million in pre-order funding.

This makes the project the No. 1 funded campaign across all categories on zeczec in 2025, smashing platform records for AI and XR products, and cementing its place as one of the Top 10 most funded campaigns in zeczec’s history.

This local success story has a significant indicator of global consumer appetite for practical AI eyewear. The campaign, which kicked off on October 28, has quickly become one of Taiwan’s most successful technology pre-order projects.

This strong momentum follows Rokid’s impressive global rollout, with successful showcases in major tech hubs like New York, Berlin, Singapore, and Paris.

The brand also boasts earlier triumphs on Kickstarter, where the Rokid Glasses pulled in over US$4 million, becoming the highest-funded XR wearable project on that platform.

The Rokid Glasses themselves are a marvel of miniaturized technology. These “world’s lightest full-function AI & AR smart glasses” integrate dual Micro LED waveguide displays with a powerful 12MP camera.

But it’s the advanced AI functions packed into a mere 49-gram frame that truly capture attention: real-time multilingual translation, live transcription, object recognition, navigation, teleprompter tools, digital payment capabilities, and voice assistance.

Rokid is a product-oriented platform company with over a decade in human-computer interaction, develops both hardware and software for AR headsets and their surrounding ecosystem, consistently winning awards like the Las Vegas CES Innovation Award and the German IF Design Award. They also boast the largest XR developer community in China.

During the official Taiwan launch event on December 10, Rokid highlighted how these smart glasses aim to reshape daily accessibility, productivity, travel, communication, and content creation.

Justo Chang, Head of Global Channels at Rokid, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “Taiwan has one of the world’s most mature and discerning consumer electronics markets. Reaching the top of Taiwan’s crowdfunding platform is a great commercial achievement.” It’s a clear sign that consumers are looking for more than just smartphones to manage their digital lives.

However, despite the record-breaking numbers, a lingering question remains: is this a genuine signal of mass market adoption for AR eyewear, or simply the fervor of early adopters in a tech-savvy region? While the features are undeniably impressive, the leap from niche enthusiast to everyday necessity is a chasm few new technologies successfully cross.

Rokid’s mission is “to ensure that the magic of AI and AR leaves no one behind,” but whether their advanced glasses will truly become universally accessible or remain a premium tool for a select few, is still to be determined.

Nevertheless, Rokid’s crowdfunding triumph in Taiwan underscores a growing demand for practical AI eyewear and validates the company’s decade-long commitment to augmented reality.

It’s a major step forward, suggesting that the future of sight might indeed be less about staring at screens and more about seeing through them.
