Sagicor Foundation Offers Tertiary and Secondary Scholarships 2023

The Sagicor Foundation has announced that it is now accepting applicants for its Secondary and Tertiary Scholarships.

The Sagicor Foundation is a Jamaican-based charitable arm of the Sagicor Group, a full-service financial services company that operates in 19 countries in the Caribbean, Latin America, the UK, and the USA. The group offers banking, life, health, general insurance, and real estate services.

The aim of the Sagicor Foundation is “to be a great company committed to improving the lives of people in the communities in which we operate”, and one great way of doing this is through their scholarship program.

Who can apply?

To enhance the education sector, the Sagicor Foundation offers scholarships to students at the secondary and tertiary levels who are clients, children of clients and children of Sagicor team members.

Deadline: The application deadline for both scholarship programs is on June 9, 2023.

Tertiary Scholarships

  • Scholarships are available to students pursuing their first degree only at selected universities/colleges in Jamaica. Students at any level (year) can apply.
  • Scholarships are valued at up to $300,000 and is made payable directly to the
    university to cover tuition expenses.


Each year the Sagicor Foundation grants scholarships to new and returning tertiary students to receive up to $300,000 towards their tuition fees to attend the following institutions: University of the West Indies, University of Technology, Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Mico University College, Caribbean Maritime University, and the Northern Caribbean University.
After receiving hundreds of applications, successful candidates are interviewed and selected based on academic merit, leadership, community involvement and financial need. The scholarship is open to clients/children of clients and Sagicor team members’ children and is renewable annually for up to four years.

Secondary Scholarships

  • These scholarships are open to children of parents who are covered under Sagicor Life Jamaica Government Employee Administrative Services Only (GEASO) and Commercial Health Policies.
  • Parents are to apply for their child/children through their company’s Human Resource Department or Administrator of their Health Plan. 
  • The Champion boy and girl of the annual Jamaica Teachers’ Association/Sagicor National Athletic Championship are also awarded secondary scholarships.

The Sagicor Foundation Secondary Scholarship is available to Grade Six students who are dependents of and/or active Group Health Insurance policyholders administered by Sagicor Life Jamaica who have sat the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) Examinations in March and April of the 2023 academic year and will be attending secondary school in September 2023. Each scholarship is valued at $50,000 per annum and is renewable annually for up to five years. Applications for the Secondary Scholarship is done through the policyholders’ respective insurance agent, broker or via their employer’s HR department.
