Montreal, Canada, January 22, 2026 – The brutal battlegrounds of Heathmoor are about to get a new, decidedly vicious contender.
Ubisoft’s For Honor is dropping its mid-season update, introducing Juren, a formidable new Hero, alongside a Throwback Event, three Hero Fests, and the return of Starter Dominion.
This is an invitation to dive into the fray for free for an entire week, starting January 29. Is For Honor trying to rekindle its flame and draw in new warriors with a blend of new blood and nostalgic modes?
Juren, a member of the Wu Lin faction, embodies the traits of a “vicious and immensely talented warrior.” His backstory paints a picture of betrayal: once one of the emperor’s greatest fighters, Baiyan (Juren’s former name) was confident and selfish, only to swear allegiance to himself after being betrayed.
Now, he heads to Heathmoor with a singular goal: prevent General Zhi from ruling over the Wu Lin. His weapon of choice, the Fang Tian Hua Ji, perfectly complements his “relentless, chaotic, and selfish” fighting style.
These selfish traits aren’t just lore; they manifest directly in Juren’s unique feats:
- Feat 1: Expendables – Juren can earn HP and Stamina by killing his own minions, a first for For Honor.
- Feat 2: No Friend of Mine – Juren’s allies become visible on enemy radar for 30 seconds. Any ally who dies during this period grants Juren a permanent shield.
- Feat 3: Last Man Standing – Grants Juren a buff for each dead ally.
- Feat 4: God Among Men – All enemies and allies (excluding Juren himself) take more damage, allowing Juren to stand out and thrive in the chaos.
This character design is certainly a bold choice, pushing the boundaries of traditional team play and potentially encouraging a more anarchic playstyle. Will players embrace Juren’s self-serving mechanics, or will it be too disruptive for team compositions?
Beyond the new hero, For Honor is making a strong play for new and returning players. A free week of play runs from January 29 to February 5 (extending to February 9 on Ubisoft Connect).
If the brutal combat captures your interest, the game will be on sale for up to 90% off on all platforms. Furthermore, the ninth anniversary celebration (February 12–19) offers a free Battle Outfit and Ornament, a nice touch for loyalists.
The limited-time game mode, Starter Dominion, also returns from January 29 to February 12, disabling Gear Perks, Feats, Stamina, and Revenge to level the playing field.
Hero Fests will offer free access to Gladiator (February 19), Kyoshin (February 26), and Gryphon (March 6), allowing players to try out different warriors.
Finally, the Last Hero Standing game mode, a 1v1v1 competitive homage to For Honor’s original trailer, returns for one week starting February 26.

For Honor is available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, and PC via Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, as well as with a Ubisoft+ Premium subscription.
With Juren’s controversial yet intriguing arrival and a slew of accessible content, Ubisoft is clearly making a concerted effort to expand the game’s reach and celebrate its enduring (and brutal) legacy.
