Dynadot Announces Increased Prices for .WS Domains Effective February 1, 2026

Published on

Midland, Texas, December 30, 2025 – For anyone holding or eyeing a .WS domain, a price adjustment is on the horizon.

Dynadot, a prominent domain registrar, has announced that the central registry will be increasing its prices for .WS domains, with Dynadot’s rates following suit.

These changes are set to take effect on February 1, 2026, at 17:00 UTC. So, if you’ve been procrastinating on that registration or renewal, your window for current pricing is rapidly closing.

The price increases affect various aspects of .WS domain management. While the current first-year registration price sits at $5.95, it will jump to $7.98. Renewals and transfers, currently $21.90, will move to $23.98. Standard additional years will see a bump to $25.08. But the most significant changes hit the more exclusive domains:

  • New Premium Domain Registration Price: $49.50
  • New 3-Character Domain Registration Price: $495.00
  • New 2-Character Domain Registration Price: $990.00
  • New 1-Character Domain Registration Price: Contact Dynadot

These tiered increases suggest a growing perceived value for shorter, more memorable .WS domains. .WS domains, originally designated for Samoa (Western Samoa), are widely used globally as an abbreviation for “website.” Their versatility and often lower cost have made them popular alternatives to more traditional extensions like .com or .net.

Dynadot’s notification serves as a clear heads-up to its customers. The company explicitly states that users can still register, renew, or transfer their domains at the current, lower prices until the February 1, 2026 deadline.

This kind of transparency, while standard, is crucial for domain holders to manage their digital assets proactively.

What does this price hike signify? It could indicate increased demand for .WS domains, prompting the central registry to adjust its valuation. Alternatively, it might simply be part of routine price adjustments across the domain name system.

Regardless, for individuals and businesses utilizing .WS domains, this is a clear signal to review their holdings and act before the prices climb. In the dynamic world of online presence, even minor cost changes can impact budget planning. The message is simple: if you want to avoid the upcoming price increase, the time to act is now.
