Tandem Diabetes Care announces the release of version 2.8.2 of its Apple iOS t:connect mobile app to correct a battery issue in t:slim X2 insulin pumps, following a recall in March 2024.
Tandem says this update aims to resolve an issue that can cause rapid depletion of the pump battery, which can lead to the pump shutting down earlier than expected.
The recall has resulted in 143 confirmed adverse events, including two hospitalizations, but no reported deaths.
Under-delivery of insulin due to a pump shutdown can result in hyperglycemia or diabetic ketoacidosis, which can be life-threatening.
The update is only for t:slim X2 iOS users, and they are encouraged to update their mobile app as soon as the new version is available.
Instructions on how to update the mobile app will be emailed to impacted customers, and customers without a valid email address will receive the information by U.S. mail.
The App is available for the App Store and Google Play Store.
