LOS ANGELES – SeniorMatch has launched a cutting-edge safety feature, Selfie Liveness Verification, making it the first dating platform that focuses on those over 50 in age.
The goal of this new feature is to combat fake accounts and identity fraud. According to the reports from the FTC, online scams and fraudulent schemes accounted for over $3.1 billion in losses in 2024 and these online scams are targeting vulnerable groups such as older adults.
A SeniorMatch survey showed that 87% of users over 50 are worried about fake online profiles.
Additionally, 72% say they’d feel more comfortable engaging with profiles that are verified with the new system. Regardless of the user, it is encouraged for all users to verify their account.
Verification works via a real-time selfie capture that is compared with other photos on the profile and then adds a verified badge once authentic. All photos are secured with end-to-end encryption. Regardless of whether the verification is successful, the user’s biometric data will be immediately deleted after processing. The data is solely used for verification purposes.
According to SeniorMatch Spokesperson Dani Johnson, “For our community members over 50, authenticity and trust are essential for forming meaningful connections and fulfilling relationships… This helps foster mutual trust, increases the likelihood of successful matches, and improves message response rates.”
The app can be found in the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or by visiting the Web app.
SeniorMatch was founded in 2001, SeniorMatch is a premier online dating and social networking platform tailored specifically for individuals over 50 looking for dating, companionship, travel mates and activity partners.
