San Francisco, California, USA – Nintendo has opened the doors to its second official retail store in the United States, located in San Francisco’s iconic Union Square at 331 Powell Street.
The grand opening ceremony on May 15 was led by Doug Bowser, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo of America, marking a new destination for fans and visitors alike.
According to Nintendo, the store aims to provide an immersive shopping experience steeped in the world of Nintendo’s beloved characters. Visitors will find a wide array of products beyond just game systems and games, including exclusive accessories, apparel, and home goods that can only be found at Nintendo stores. The location is designed to be more than just a retail space, inviting guests to explore and engage with the Nintendo universe.




The opening day festivities included a ribbon cutting ceremony where Doug Bowser was joined by San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie. Bowser extended a welcome to fans and visitors and thanked the city of San Francisco for its warm reception.
The event also featured a surprise appearance by Mario from the Mushroom Kingdom, much to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd.
The two-story store offers merchandise spanning Nintendo’s extensive catalog, from the Super Mario series to Splatoon and beyond. Visitors can expect to find:
- Exclusive Merchandise: Products featuring multi-character artwork, including statue replicas, stationery, bags, and unique Nintendo SAN FRANCISCO-branded apparel.
- Wide Product Variety: Apparel, home goods, toys, and other items inspired by various game series, such as:
- Super Mario themed goods like blankets and kitchen items.
- Animal Crossing products like tote bags and loungewear.
- Splatoon gear, including Aloha shirts and ink tank-inspired backpacks.
- The Legend of Zelda items, such as Korok-themed drinkware and exclusive Triforce-themed clothing.
- Pikmin merchandise like vases and desk accessories.
- Plush toys and collectibles from Pokémon, Kirby, Metroid, and other series.
Beyond shopping, the store offers interactive experiences. Guests can take photos with large statues of Nintendo characters, customize a Nintendo Switch – OLED Model system at a dedicated kiosk, and play Nintendo Switch games at demo stations or on a giant gaming screen, which will also host future Nintendo Direct livestreams.
Visitors with a Nintendo Account can check in at the My Nintendo kiosk to receive an exclusive sticker and earn Platinum Points.
Due to anticipated demand, Warp Pipe Pass reservations are required for entry launch through May 18 and on select dates thereafter. These passes are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. More information on obtaining a Warp Pipe Pass can be found here.
