Rockstar Games Just Bought a Studio! Meet Rockstar Australia!

New York, NY – March 3, 2025 – Hold onto your controllers, folks! Rockstar Games has officially announced the acquisition of Video Games Deluxe, the talented studio based in Sydney.

And guess what? They’re now officially Rockstar Australia! This isn’t just a random pick-up; these guys have been tight with Rockstar for years, and it’s finally official.

You know those slick re-releases of L.A. Noire back in 2017? Yep, that was Video Games Deluxe. And more recently, they were instrumental in bringing Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition to iOS, Android, Netflix, and current consoles. So, these folks know their stuff.

“After working together closely over many years, we are excited to have Video Games Deluxe join the team as Rockstar Australia,” said Jennifer Kolbe, Rockstar Games Head of Publishing. It’s clear this is a move driven by a long-standing, successful partnership.

And let’s not forget the roots of this relationship. It all started with Brendan McNamara’s previous studio, Team Bondi, and the creation of the groundbreaking detective thriller L.A. Noire. Talk about coming full circle!

“It’s been an honor to work closely with Rockstar Games this past decade,” said Brendan McNamara, founder of Video Games Deluxe. “We are thrilled to be a part of Rockstar Games and to continue our efforts to make the best games possible.”

Rockstar Games, of course, needs no introduction. They’re the masterminds behind the Grand Theft Auto series, which has sold over 440 million units worldwide. They’ve also given us gems like the Red Dead Redemption series, Max Payne, and L.A. Noire. They’re gaming royalty.

This acquisition is a big deal for Rockstar, strengthening its global development power and also a testament to the talent at Video Games Deluxe, now Rockstar Australia. Expect even more fantastic games from this powerhouse combo!
