Tab hoarders, rejoice!
Opera [NASDAQ: OPRA] has just unveiled a groundbreaking new feature for its flagship browser, Opera One: AI Tab Commands.
This innovative addition marks the first time Opera is integrating its AI, Aria, directly into tab management, allowing users to organize their open pages using simple, natural language.
Gone are the days of manually sifting through dozens of tabs to find what you need. With AI Tab Commands, you can now instruct Aria to perform actions like closing specific tabs or grouping them by topic.
For instance, you can simply type “close all news tabs” or “group my shopping tabs” into the Opera browser Command Line (accessed via Ctrl + / on Windows or CMD + / on Mac). Aria will understand your request and execute it.

Alternatively, when you have five or more tabs open, a convenient AI Tab Management option will appear in the right-click context menu of any tab. This provides quick access to Aria’s tab-organizing capabilities.
Joanna Czajka, product director at Opera, highlighted the benefit for users overwhelmed by open tabs. “Let’s say you have over 70 tabs opened and amongst them you have Wikipedia sites about your university research. To group them all, you no longer have to find them one by one. Instead, you can tell Aria to group them together. Having them in a one tab island, it’s way easier to continue work on your project.”
Opera emphasizes that this feature was developed with user privacy and security in mind. When using Tab Commands, only the user-provided prompt (like close all YouTube tabs) is sent to the server. All actual tab data remains on the user’s device and is processed locally within the browser.
After being the first one to introduce tabs 25 years ago, we are continuing to improve this core feature of the browser. Today, we’re, again, the first ones to introduce a comprehensive AI tab management feature in the browser. With this step, we keep pushing the border of what can be achieved with these new technologies in a web browser.
Czajka added
