Big news for fans of comics, games, and collectibles!

Think of Diamond as the long-standing backbone for getting comic books and related goodies into your favorite local comic shops. Alliance Entertainment, on the other hand, already deals in a wide range of entertainment products, from music to video games.

This acquisition is a game-changer, promising to create some exciting synergies.

Jeff Walker, CEO of Alliance Entertainment, sees this as a “transformative opportunity” to boost their presence in the fan-driven collectibles market. He highlighted the potential for cross-selling, meaning you might soon see your favorite comic book characters popping up in more mass retail stores, and perhaps even more cool collectibles finding their way into specialty shops.

Bruce Ogilvie, Executive Chairman of Alliance Entertainment, expressed excitement about welcoming the talented teams from the Diamond entities into their family. He emphasized their commitment to supporting the existing relationships with suppliers, creators, and, most importantly, the customers who rely on these brands.

What does this mean for you? Well, the combined strength of these companies could lead to a wider variety of products being available in more places. Alliance Entertainment plans to leverage Diamond’s strong relationships with comic and game stores while also bringing their own extensive catalog into these specialty channels. They also aim to introduce Diamond’s popular items to a broader audience through mass retail and online platforms.

The deal, which is still subject to Bankruptcy Court approval, is expected to close in April 2025. Alliance Entertainment anticipates that the acquired assets will generate over $200 million in revenue and over $10 million in EBITDA in the fiscal year 2026.

Alliance Entertainment (NASDAQ: AENT) is a global distributor specializing in music, movies, video games, electronics, arcades, and collectibles. They boast a massive inventory of over 325,000 unique items and have been serving customers worldwide for over 35 years.
