Halliday Secures $20M to Simplify Blockchain Automation

Halliday has announced a $20 million Series A funding round, led by a16z crypto, with participation from SV Angel, Credibly Neutral, and Blizzard Fund.

This investment will accelerate the development of Halliday’s Workflow Protocol, a platform designed to revolutionize blockchain automation.

Halliday aims to eliminate the need for developers to write smart contracts, addressing the complexities and risks associated with traditional on-chain application development.

The company argues that smart contract creation is akin to hardware engineering, characterized by slow, expensive, and potentially hazardous processes.

Furthermore, Halliday’s Workflow Protocol seeks to unlock the potential of AI on the blockchain. By providing robust safety infrastructure, businesses can gain oversight of AI-enabled automations, addressing compliance and safety concerns that have hindered adoption.

The Workflow Protocol enables the automation of various workflows, including:

  • Onramping to new Layer 1/2/3 blockchains
  • Recurring payments
  • Yield maximization
  • Treasury management
  • B2B agents
  • And other customizable workflows

Since 2023, Halliday has been testing a proprietary version of its workflow system, with notable teams like DeFi Kingdoms, Avalanche (avax), ApeCoin, and Story Protocol leveraging the engine for payment flows.

Smart contracts have long been the default way the industry builds applications onchain. However, smart contract development resembles hardware engineering more than software engineering: it is slow, expensive, and dangerous,

the company stated.

Halliday‘s goal is to make blockchain automation accessible and safe. The Workflow Protocol aims to provide a user-friendly platform that empowers businesses to automate complex processes without requiring specialized smart contract development skills.
