Google Registry’s .dev extension turns 5

The Google Registry has announced its celebration of 5 years of the .dev domain extension.

The dedicated domain registry of Google manages the .app, .dev, .foo, .nexus, .mov and .zip top-level domains which launched in May and Spring 5 years ago.

The .dev domain is explicitly designed for technology, programming languages, blogs, and projects with a focus on developers.

The .dev top-level domain has since garnered over 600,000 domain registrations.
