Cuba/Jamaica Bilateral Scholarship 2025-2026

Seventeen scholarships are available for Jamaican students to pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Cuba, starting in September 2025. The Cuban government is offering these opportunities across a range of disciplines.

Disciplines

  • 7 Scholarships: Medicine
  • 4 Scholarships: Bachelor’s Degrees in Health Technologies
  • 1 Scholarship: Health Technologies (2-3 years)
  • 2 Scholarships: Postgraduate Medical Studies (for Cuban medical school graduates only)
  • 3 Scholarships: Degree courses associated with the Ministry of Higher Education of Cuba

Undergraduate Study Requirements

  • Be Jamaican and under 25 years old.
  • Completed sixth form.
  • At least two (2) “A” Levels or CAPE Units I & II in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics (for Medicine).
  • CSEC English (at least a C).
  • Certified copies of academic certificates, transcripts, school records, and school leaving certificate.
  • Personal letter of request outlining community involvement and leadership.
  • Two references (school or community leader).
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate & TRN.
  • Certified copy of passport pages (passport must not expire before April 30, 2032).

Postgraduate Study Requirements

  • Be Jamaican and under 35 years old.
  • Degree in General Medicine from a Cuban university, with interest in specializing in the indicated areas.
  • Certified copies of academic certificates and transcripts.
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate & TRN.
  • Certified copy of passport pages (passport must not expire before April 30, 2032).

Obligations

Successful candidates will be required to:

  • Supplement at least one year’s allowance for the preparatory year.
  • Sign a bond agreement at the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service before departure.
  • Return to work in Jamaica for at least five (5) years to contribute to the country’s economic and social development.

  1. Download and complete the application form.
  2. Create a user profile at www.mof.gov.jm/scholarships to upload the completed form and complete the scholarship application process.
  3. Submit a printed copy of the completed application and supporting documents to:
