San Franscisco, CA – Cloudflare, Inc. (NYSE: NET), a connectivity cloud company, has announced it’s acquiring Outerbase, a company with a focus on the developer database, to improve the database experience with Cloudflare Workers.
The value of the acquisition was not disclosed. It had two press rounds and one seed round of funding from the makers of Y Combinator, Liquid 2 Ventures, Surface Ventures, and TRAC.
Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, said, “Businesses are racing to build AI-powered applications to be as productive, innovative, and competitive as possible.” He also mentioned the importance of AI as a driver of the need to build databases.

Outerbase is built on Cloudflare Workers. With this acquisition, Cloudflare hopes to democratize data access and make it easier to manage databases.
Brandon Strittmatter, co-founder and CEO of Outerbase, said, “At Outerbase, our mission has always been to make working with data easier for developers”.
What is next? Outerbase is joining Cloudflare with a vision to revolutionize data interaction within the Cloudflare ecosystem. This acquisition aims to provide a seamless and enhanced developer experience across Cloudflare’s data and storage platform, starting with D1 and Durable Objects.
Future integration will extend to Workers KV, R2, Workflows, and even AI Agents, empowering developers with easier access and management of their data across the entire Cloudflare landscape.
