Bungie, creators of Halo and Destiny, has revealed first gameplay footage for its upcoming team-based extraction shooter, Marathon.
The reveal included alpha gameplay, a look at its mysterious setting and info on how to join the upcoming Closed Alpha test.
If you sign up within the Discord server, you are eligible for the pre-order.
Marathon is set to release on September 23, 2025, on Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with full cross-play and cross-save features.

Here are some main features found within the gameplay, and cinematic released.
- Players will act as Runners, they hack, scavenge, and raid for fortune and power
- The main planet is Tau Ceti IV: A lost colony teeming with hostile security forces who are waiting for the Runner
- Players can choose their Runne with cybernetic mercenaries with abilities
- Bungie wanted to have an original cinematic, with it directed by Alberto Mielgo(pinkman.tv).
“When I first read about Marathon’s universe and characters, I found everything strangely poetic and mysterious,” said Alberto Mielgo.
