Miami, FL – AIDA Cruises, the top cruise line in Germany, is expanding its fleet with an order for two new mid-sized ships.
Carnival Corporation (AIDA Cruises’ parent company) has reached an agreement with Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilder, to design and construct the new class of vessels. These ships are slated for delivery in the first quarter of fiscal years 2030 and 2032 respectively.
Each ship will accommodate approximately 2,100 cabins, fitting nicely into AIDA’s existing fleet size, between the Hyperion Class (1,600 cabins) and Helios Class (2,600+ cabins).
Felix Eichhorn, President of AIDA Cruises, stated that these “next-generation ships will delight our guests with amazing new features and experiences.” In addition, Eichhorn said that adding the ships brings the total ships in its fleet to thirteen.
The vessels will feature multi-fuel propulsion systems, including LNG capabilities, aligning with sustainability efforts and the “future proof[ing]” of operations.
Carnival Corporation’s CEO, Josh Weinstein, emphasized a disciplined approach to growth, directing new capacity to high-performing brands like AIDA and Carnival Cruise Line. The newbuild pipeline includes eight ships to set sail between now and 2033.
Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, noted the company’s honor in being selected and praised the ships’ “most advanced technologies for sustainability and efficiency.”
Design details and itinerary information for the new AIDA ships are expected to be revealed soon. This order is contingent upon financing, which is expected to be completed later this year.

Carnival Corporation & plc is the largest global cruise company and among the largest leisure travel companies, with a portfolio of world-class cruise lines – AIDA Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, Cunard, Holland America Line, P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises, and Seabourn.
